Eavestrough that is undersized, badly sloped or hanging on a soft fascia board is one of the most common reasons an Edmonton basement gets damp. It is also one of the cheapest problems to fix properly, which is why we treat gutters as real work rather than something tacked on to a roof job.
Installation. We size the system to the roof it serves, not to what was there before. Runs are formed on site so the only joints are at corners and outlets, hung on hidden brackets fastened into solid backing, and sloped so the trough empties completely rather than holding water at one end.
Replacement. If the existing trough is the same age as the shingles, sagging between hangers, or leaking at every corner, replacing beats patching. We check the fascia behind it first — new trough on a rotten board is money thrown away — and we can do the roof edge and the trough as one job so the drip edge, starter course and gutter line are detailed together.
Repair. Plenty of systems do not need replacing. Loose hangers, a run that has lost its slope, an open corner seam, a downspout that never reached the ground, a section pulled down by ice. Those are repairs, and when a repair is the honest answer that is what we will quote.
Cleaning and guards keep the whole thing working. Troughs cleared by hand, every downspout flushed and confirmed running, and micro-mesh guards on treed lots where seed and needles plug outlets between visits.
Both words mean the same thing, by the way. Eavestrough is what most people here call it and gutter is what most manufacturers print on the box.
